Preparing for a cosmetic or plastic surgery procedure at Northbay Health

Everyone’s story – just like their body – is different. That’s why we begin by listening to your goals, learning about your medical history and health, and working together to create a shared plan.

Leading up to your procedure, we will:

  • Discuss your expectations.
You’ll have an opportunity to share why you want cosmetic or plastic surgery and what you’re hoping to accomplish, in terms of appearance after the procedure. Before-and-after photos are available upon request.
  • Review your medical history.
Be prepared to answer questions about your current and past medical conditions, past surgeries and any medication you’re currently taking or have recently taken. If seeking breast cosmetic or plastic surgery, tell the doctor if you have a family history of breast cancer and bring the results of any mammograms or breast biopsies.
  • Conduct a physical exam.
A physical examination will be conducted to determine your treatment options. Along with learning your medical history, this helps Dr. Jason Marengo, our plastic and reconstructive surgeon and surgical oncologist, make a plan specific to you.

What’s the difference between cosmetic surgery and plastic surgery?

Cosmetic procedures are designed to enhance a patient’s appearance, whereas plastic surgery is intended to repair and reconstruct a standard function or natural appearance.
